The British International School of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia does follow the British International curriculum and charges tuition fees ranging from RM 16,570 to RM 34,990 plus other charges.

The British International School Malaysia provides British International education to children starting from early years to the sixth form, to children aged 2 to 18 years. The international school was founded in 2009 and follows the English National Curriculum that has been adjusted to meet the local and international requirements of learners and their guardians and community in general. The curriculum is divided into Early Years or Foundation Stage, Primary School or KS1 and 2, Secondary School or KS3 and 4, and Sixth Form.

BSKL is licensed by the Malaysian Ministry of Education, to provide international education. It has three accreditations from the ministry, including the University of Cambridge International Examinations and Edexcel certifications. Others are COBIS and FOBISIA. The school has also been Okayed through an inspection by the Independent Schools Inspectorate.

The school, which started temporary classes in 2009 in Bandar Utama in Kuala Lumpur, completed a permanent campus in 2011. It then completed a second campus in 2013 and another one in 2016, with the latter one opened for Secondary and Sixth Form students.

Admission into this Malaysian international school starts with the parent or guardian filling in an application form online. The Admissions Team will then contact the parent within 48 hours to book an appointment for a personal tour at the school or virtually.


The curriculum at the British International School Malaysia

The British International School Malaysia offers IGCSE and A-level program in its adjusted British International Curriculum. The curriculum fosters learning for pupils in early childhood to the university at various stages. The university reviews and adjusts the curriculum from time to time.

The curriculum is divided into early years, primary school, secondary school, Sixth Form. It is organized into Key Stages or KS, which are blocks of years. The Foundation Stage starts with children of ages 2 to 5 and dwells on play-based learning to teach numeracy and literacy.

In the primary school where learners are aged 5 to 7 for Key Stage 1 and 7 to 11 years for Key Stage 2, learning stresses on maths and English. Other subjects are science, technology, humanities, and art. The national examinations offered at this stage are SATs in Year 2 and GL in Year 6.

Learning at KS 3 mainly aims at helping the child become independent and is subject-based in most of the time.

At Upper Secondary in KS 4, students at ages 14 to 16 prepare for (I)GCSE and A-level examinations. They study English, maths, science and a secondary subject, and select four or five subjects from among a group of others. They then specialize further by selecting only three or four subjects from a range of options.

The school is divided into three; lower, junior, and secondary campuses, with all of them featuring modern and bright classrooms and the latest technology. Other facilities on the three campuses include libraries, swimming pools, gym, and dining rooms.

The International School Malaysia charges tuition fees depending on the stage of learning. It varies from RM 16,570 for 2 year-old pre-nursery scholars to RM 34,990 for 17 year-olds. These charges are on per term basis but the parents can pay annually and in this case, they will receive a discount.

Additional charges include an annual resource fee of RM 1,600 annually used in buying resources; RM 1,500 application fees, and RM 17,050 enrolment fees. Students also pay EAL/SEND charge if they require extra educational support; bus service fee of RM 5,200 per year; school uniform and P.E. kit charges; and public exam fees for GCSE and A-levels.
