The St. Joseph’s International School Malaysia is located at the Petaling Jaya, Selangor Darul Ehsan, Malaysia. The tuition fee varies from RM 42,000 per year for those in the nursery school to RM 93,000 for those at Year 13. There also is an additional 2,800 per term as an additional fee on top of tuition,

The St. Joseph's International School Malaysia admits and teaches children of between 3 and 18 years and follows the English and IB curriculum. Each of the classroom requires to hold a max of 25 students with Key Stage 1 ro Grade 10 having an average of around 16-18 pupils. Grade 11 to 12 classrooms have an average of 14-16 students. The school is based on Lasallian Catholic foundation, and admits students and teachers of all faith and cultural backgrounds.

The international school in Malaysia was founded by the La Salle Brothers under the auspices of the Lasallian East Asia District (LEAD). Not only does it train academic excellence at the school, but also engage in co-curricular activities and community programs. For instance, they participate in communal programs to enhance their leadership skills, teamwork skills, and even to help the needy.

The school follows the International Primary Curriculum for Kindergarten 1 to Grade 5. For Grade 6 to 10, the school follows the International General Certificate of Secondary Education or IGCSE. It then adheres to the International Baccalaureate in Grade 11 and 12.

The school hires native English speaking teachers and teaching assistants as well, but there are no EAL specialists hired. The responsibility to teach EAL lies on the teachers and learning support assistants. Although the default instruction language is English, the school also offers additional classes for additional languages including Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, and Spanish.

Assessment is done from the day of admission as it is required for admission although introductory conversation is what is used when admitting Key Stage 1 or Grade 2 pupils at the school. Students must wear uniform at school. Inside the classroom, the students also get an access to iPads and laptops but there are no personal devices given to students. 

Curriculum at the St. Joseph's International School Malaysia

The school follows the International Primary Curriculum for Kindergarten 1 to Grade 5, IGCSE for Grades 6 to 10, and IB Diploma Certificate for Grade 11 and 12.

At the Elementary School, the international school serves students from Prep 1 to Grade 6. In addition to ordinary academic learning, learners can choose from ICT, Environmental, Academic, Sporting, Performing, and Visual Arts CCAs or co-curricular activities.

In High School, which admits students for Grade 7 to 12, the school provides holistic education. These students prepare for IB Diploma and IGCSE qualification examinations. Students who complete then qualify for admission into different universities around the world. These students also participate in extra-curricular activities.

The school also provides catechism classes for all grades. 

Facilities at the St. Joseph's International School Malaysia

Some of the facilities at the school include a school bus. In addition to ordinary classrooms, the school has facilities to support ballet, rainbow arts, cooking and nutrition, story club, movement and dance, swimming, chess, board games, Karate, athletics, climbing, coding, golf, rugby, and football. 

The school features an indoor sports hall, tennis court, playground, swimming pool, playground, basketball court, soccer field, and others. 

Location, fees and admission

The St. Joseph’s International School Malaysia is located at the Petaling Jaya, Selangor Darul Ehsan, Malaysia.

The tuition fee varies from RM 42,000 per year for those in the nursery school to RM 93,000 for those at Year 13. There also is an additional 2,800 per term as an additional fee on top of tuition, for those who require attending the EAL classes for additional English skills. There is also application fee of RM 1500, and enrolment fee of between RM 5,000 and RM 24,000. Other charges include security deposits, and contribution to Lasallian fund.

The Elementary School Principal will carry out an introductory assessment with the pupil who is being admitted to the Key Stage 1 or Grade 2. An English, maths and a non-verbal assessment applies for those in Grade 4 and 6, lasting 1 hour. An English, Science and Maths assessment is administered to those willing to get admission to Grade 11 – 12, lasting one and half hours.

This International School Malaysia admits a few students with learning needs, with priority offered to those with siblings in the school.
