Marlborough College Malaysia is an international school where students can attend boarding and day school. The school teaches preparatory school meant for 3 to 12 year olds, and Senior school meant for 13 to 18 year olds.
Although the international school follows the U.K. national curriculum, it also blends it with aspects of regional diversity. For instance, children are taught a variety of languages including Mandarin, Bahasa, Spanish and French. The Common Entrance course facilitates the children’s transition to the Senior school and will also be fit for those transitioning to independent British public schools.
Marlborough College Malaysia facilities encourage a variety of sporting and non-sporting activities including swimming, basketball, badminton, tennis, health and fitness, volleyball, cross-country, yoga, climbing, triathlon, and football among others.
The Marlborough College Malaysia teaches the UK National Curriculum generally, to help students pursue IGCSE qualification to Year 11 and the International Baccalaureate to Year 13. However, tailored programs are used to help students discover and explore their talents.
The U.K. or British National Curriculum at the Marlborough College Malaysia also integrates different activities through societies, poetry, music and concerts, sporting, lectures, and trips. Students in senior school also receive pastoral care.
The Senior school meant for Year 9 to Year 13 for those children aged 13 to 18 years. The senior school is divided into Shell for those in Year 9, Remove & Hundred for those in Year 10 and 11, and Lower Sixth and Upper Sixth.
The Preparatory school, which is meant for children aged 3 to 12, comprise of the nursery school, pre-prep, lower, and upper prep school. The pre-prep handles children of ages 1 to 3, and these are transferred to Prep-school in Year 4.
Students willing to move from the Prep school to the Senior School can benefit from the transitioning course offered there, known as Common Entrance. This course is helpful for those willing to join any other public schools that follow the British Curriculum in the country.
The preparatory level focuses on ethos of Conversation, Compassion, and Companionship. Children at this stage also undertake sporting activities, artistic, and also physical, in addition to creative activities.
Facilities at the Marlborough College Malaysia
The international school in Malaysia has many facilities, including a swimming pool, football fields, track, basketball pitch, badminton pitch and tennis pitch. The school also has facilities for yoga, general health and fitness, aqua/triathlon, Frisbee, squash and many others.
Location, admission and fees
The international boarding and day school is located in Iskandar Puteri. It sits on the southern tip of the country, which is only 20 kilometers from the Southern border.
The International School Malaysia conducts arranged visits in addition to providing additional information for those willing to admit their children at the school. Parents can also attended a scheduled Open Day if willing to admit their children to the school.
Registration for entry should be done at least three years earlier before the term of entry. The selection is not academic-based only, but they also consider art, drama, music, sporting and service when doing admissions.
The registration fee is RM 2,000, acceptance fee for Day pupils RM 5,000, Acceptance fee for boarding pupils RM 7,500, and a refundable fee depending on Year Group of Entry is also levied.
