The French School initially started off as an embassy school in 1957 but was upgraded to the status of French International School of Bangkok (LFIB) in 2003, located at 498 Soi Ramkhamhaeng 39 (Thep Leela 1). The School welcomes students from the age of 3 to 18.
The School is run under a convention overseen by the AEFE and the French Foundation for Education.
The LFIB welcomes about 1040 students from kindergarten to the baccalaureate. The entire curriculum is directly managed. The LFIB is also a member of ISAT (International Schools Association of Thailand).
At LFIB, we provide French National Education programs enriched by an ambitious language course offer, bringing each child to master languages to think, communicate and act in a multicultural and multilingual world.
The Lycée Français follows the French curriculum and works towards the Diplome National du Brevet at middle school, and the Baccalauréat diploma at high school. Students have the option of joining a French-English programme at elementary and primary level and an international stream at high school. Aside from French, students can study Thai, Spanish, German, Chinese as a foreign language. The school also offers a varied programme of after-school activities in both English and French.
These linguistic paths bring our students a linguistic and cultural richness allowing them to reach a high level of mastery of languages and an in-depth knowledge of the culture of the country of these languages. They evolve throughout schooling.
At the Lycee Francais International de Bangkok, sport and cultural activities are important. Including all forms of arts, music, drama, literature available to kindergarten to high shool. In addition, all students can practice sports skills through physical education classes and the Sports Association (AS). Also, LFIB also participates in international competitions within the AEFE network, which is a sporting event with other schools.
Created at the start of the 2018 school year, the LFIB Sports Association which is affiliated to the UNSS within the framework of the AEFE-UNSS leagues aims to develop the virtues of sport with all pupils from 6th to 12th grade whatever their capacities and their sporting levels, without discrimination or selection, in order to:
- Allow the practice of activity in all its forms to the greatest number
- Train in community life (learning responsibility, citizenship and humanism, equal opportunities, integration, the exercise of solidarity and the training of sports ethics)
- Propose competitions, meetings and openness on the host country and on the countries of the zone
Supervised by LFIB sports teachers, students enrolled in the AS have the opportunity to participate in Prozap (AEFE projects for the Asia Pacific region).
