In Secondary school, students enter the (I)GCSE programme where they study a wide variety of subjects. Bangkok Patana School As the oldest British school in Thailand, Bangkok Patana School is proudly academically non-selective.  Our mission, vision and school values drive us to welcome students of differing needs and ambitions as we delve deeper into what their individual potential looks like and as they develop into global citizens in an ever-changing world. We have earned our reputation as one of the top international schools globally.

Being a not-for-profit organisation means that we are able to focus completely on making investments in staff, equipment and facilities to ensure that we have great learning environments for our students. We recently installed pre-cooled filtered fresh air systems all buildings to ensure a healthy environment for our students. As well, large solar installations two years in a row has given us the largest solar installation of any school in Thailand, generating 1.2MW. and allows us to reduce our energy footprint

Our Senior students enter the IB programme where the average score in 2019 for students who passed IB exams was 35 points, compared to the world average of 30. Three students achieved a perfect score of 45 points, an incredible feat as they can count themselves among 275 students globally, out of 100,000 who sat the exams. Considering the school is academically non-selective, our results in the ISA, (I)GCSE and IB rank high amongst the top selective international schools in Asia. From early as Foundation Stage, we strive to develop children’s independence while feeding their natural curiosity. Our teachers learn from best practice experts to make sure their students are kept at the forefront. We work with people like Ian Stuart at Atomic School to introduce Atomic Theory at a young age, allowing students to absorb concepts when their minds are most accepting.  Our campus with its wide open and natural spaces provides easy incentive for our students to learn in many different ways. The onsite Outdoor Classroom is used for learning by students from the ages of 4 to 18. Students enjoy learning in our bespoke Science Centre where they experiment and learn in well-stocked laboratories. The Arts Centre with its two theatres, purpose-built drama, music and art rooms allow students to hone their talents in these areas. Our graduates have matriculated at some of the most selective art, drama and music schools in the world.

Students start school at 7:30am and finish classes at 2:30pm when after school extra-curricular activities will be held. More information on our admission procedure, tuition and fees can be found here: https://www.patana.ac.th/admissions/

Developing Leadership

At Bangkok Patana, our vision is to develop global citizens who shape their world through independence, empathy, creativity and critical thinking. Students are given opportunities to take on a leadership role in many different areas from being student representatives to championing causes for which they are passionate. Integrated into the curriculum and extra- curricular activities are opportunities for students to develop the skills and characteristics of leaders.

Some of the activities that develop these traits are:
• Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Programme
• Model United Nations (MUN)
• Student Environmental Committee
• Developing independent and collaborative learners through the curriculum
• Residential Visits

Throughout their time at Bangkok Patana, students are given opportunities to step up and take on a leadership role in many different areas. These include opportunities for student voice such as:
• Student Representative Councils across the different Year groups
• Secondary School Student Delegate teams, which are elected by peers
• Year 9 Junior Delegates are ambassadors for Key Stage 3 and lead out on many events
• Year 12 Student Delegates are role models for their peers and for younger students

Students have the opportunity to take up other leadership roles in an area that they are particularly passionate about. These may be:
• Junior Librarians
• Captain of a sports team
• Orchestra section leaders
• House Leaders
• Student Technology Advisors

Extra-Curricular Activities and Other Opportunities

Extra-Curricular Activities or “ECAs” as they are affectionately known by our students are a highlight in many students’ days. Our broad and expansive provision offers something for everyone allowing students to explore their passions, learn new skills, meet new friends across Year groups and Key Stages and most importantly have fun! We offer two ECA sessions a day from 2:30 – 3:30pm and 3:30 – 4:30pm all conveniently linked to our door-to-door bus service. Our ECA year is arranged into four 8-week blocks, which allows students to sample different activities throughout the year. There are approximately 400 ECAs offered each week.

Students at Bangkok Patana have access to a huge range of extra-curricular activities including a full range of sports; football, volleyball, gymnastics, tennis, golf, swimming, rugby and touch among many others. Students also take part in musical dramas and dance programmes, putting on elaborate and well-done productions. In addition to musical and performing arts options, students can also take part in a wide range of activities involving STEM (Science, Tech, Engineering and Mathematics), recreational sports and the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award that allows students in Year 10 and upward to join in adventures that involve hiking, kayaking and cycling.  The five year-long academies at Bangkok Patana offer recreational and competitive training to those children who are particularly passionate in Football, Tennis, Swimming, Gymnastics and Dance and Drama.

Our students are also involved in community action with clubs that raise funds for Operation Smile Thailand, build houses with Habitat for Humanity, get involved with combatting human trafficking and collect clothing for local disadvantaged families among many others. Even our Primary students get involved in community action by collecting clothes for communities along the Thai/ Cambodian border, raising funds for Cambodia Clean Water and supporting migrant children in Sangkhlaburi. Students from a local day care centre come and play alongside Foundation Stage students regularly through the year giving the children a chance to learn about each other and become empowered by their interculturalism.

The Patana Concert series runs throughout the academic year, giving performance-minded students a chance to shine in front of their peers and guests. Students also audition for musical theatre and drama performances.
